This is a catalog of an exhibit at the Guggenheim in 1982. Catalogs are a crapshoot. Sometimes you don't get what you want. I was hoping for a nice collection of Kandinsky's artwork up to the beginning of his abstracts, in color. This is a very thick catalog but is mostly about the artistic world in the German speaking countries, especially around Munich, in which Kandinsky became active (influences, milieu, etc.) Not much Kandinsky and not much in color by anyone. If you are interested in detailed history and love black and white illustrations of period arts and crafts this is for you. If not...keep looking.
